How to make the periods bigger on Google Docs
There are three ways to change the period size in a document.
- Way 1: Format your document by changing the font size
- Way 2: Using the find and replace option
- Way 3: Taking advantage of the ‘Advanced Find and Replace’ add-on
Way 1: Format your document by changing the font size
Changing the entire document’s default font size is the first way to increase periods’ size.
Now, follow these steps in Google Docs to change your document’s font size.
1. Create a document in Google Docs.
2. Use “Ctrl+ A” or click on “Select all” in the Edit menu.
The following step is to pick the entirety of your document. Again, using the Control + A keys on your keyboard is a simple way to do this.
Click the Edit tab in the top left corner of your screen. Then, under the menu, select the “Select all” option.
3. Increase the font size of your toolbar or the Format option.
Then, raise the document’s font size. The font size symbol would be on the left side. A “+” sign appears next to the font size. To expand the font size, click on this sign.
Alternatively, you can use the Format menu. To access the Format menu, click the Format tab in the top left corner of the screen. In the Format menu, select or hover over the ‘Text’ option (the first option).
Another small drop-down menu will appear. The ‘Size’ option should be near the bottom of the page. To open another menu, click or hover over it. ‘Increase font size’ is the first choice. Continue to click on it to increase the font size.
Way 2: Using the “Find and replace” option.
The second approach for expanding the number of your document’s periods is to use the “find and replace” option. As a result, you can adjust the size of periods without affecting the rest of the text.
1. Press “Ctrl + F” to open the “Find” dialog box.
The Find dialogue box must first be opened. Using the keyboard shortcut is a simple way to accomplish this. Press the Control and F keys on your keyboard. The Find dialogue box will appear in the top right corner of the screen.
2. When the Find dialog box appears, type a period (.).
Then, in the search dialogue box, type a period to highlight all the periods in your document.
3. In your document, change the font size of each period.
The last step is to manually adjust each period’s size in your document.
Going to the toolbar is one technique to modify the font size. To raise the font size, click the plus symbol next to it.
Alternatively, you can use the format menu. Choose Format → Text → Size → “Increase font size.”
Use the top and bottom arrows in the Find dialog box to go through each period in your document.
Way 3: Taking advantage of the ‘Advanced Find and Replace’ add-on
The Advanced Find and Replace add-on is used in the final procedure. An add-on is a piece of software that you can install to extend the functionality of Google Docs. There are add-ons for generating citations for your document.
1. Go to the upper left corner of the screen and select the “Extensions” menu.
2. From the menu, select “Get add-ons.”
3. Type “Advanced Find and Replace” into the search bar.
The search bar should be visible at the top of the Add-ons window. Type “Advanced Find and Replace” into the search bar. Then, select an option from the menu that appears below the search box.
This would redirect you to a new page with the add-icon.
4. Select the “Advanced Find and Replace” add-on by clicking on its icon.
After that, click the add-icon. This will lead you to a page where you can find everything you need to know about the “Advanced Find and Replace” add-on. In addition, you may see photographs of the add-on, as well as reviews made by past users and other information.
5. Click on the blue “Install” button. See the screenshot below.
You should see a blue button labeled “Install” at the top of the window. To begin the installation of the add-on, click this button.
You will be asked to confirm your installation when you click this button. ‘Continue’ should be selected. Then you’ll be prompted to sign in to your Google account. Next, select the account to which you want to log in.
Return to the add-ons window once the installation is complete. To close the window, click the x in the top right corner of the screen.
6. Go back to the Extensions tab and click it again.
7. From the Extensions menu, select “Advanced Find and Replace.” See the screenshot below.
8. Select “Find & Replace” from the drop-down menu.
Select “Find & Replace” from the smaller drop-down menu (which is the first option in the menu). This may bring up a dialogue window informing you that you’ve reached your limit (if you want to use the app more, you have to upgrade).
To open a panel on the right, close the warning.
9. Type the period in the “Find” box.
In the “Find” box at the panel’s top, type the period (the punctuation mark).
10. Type a period in the “Replace” box. In the panel, change the text size.
Put the period punctuation in the “Replace” box once more. Then, using the panel’s option, raise the text size.
11. Select “Replace Selected/All” from the drop-down menu.
You can change the font size of all periods in your document by clicking “Replace Selected/All” at the bottom of the screen.
All periods on your page should now have a larger font size.
