How to highlight text in Google Docs in the browser?
Follow the below steps
1. Open the Google Docs desktop browser application in the browser of your choice
2. Now open your Google Docs document you wish to work within the Google Docs application
3. Read through the text, and place the cursor on the start of the text you want to highlight
4. Now, click and drag over the words to select those that need highlighting. Verify your selection once if you have covered all the words that need to be highlighted.

5. Check for the little pencil icon on the toolbar, i.e., highlighter in Google Docs. Usually, it is next to the text formatting options like Bold, Italic, etc.
You’ll be presented with a new color panel to choose from.

6. Now select the color with which you want to highlight. The entire selected text, whatever is marked, will now be highlighted.

Note: You’ll be presented with a color panel with some standard colors. You can always choose different shades from the custom panel available with a click of the custom option.
7. Choose the color shade that suits you by dragging the control across shades. You can also directly input the hexadecimal value if you are already aware of it.

Step 8: Finally, click on OK to apply the shade.

8. Click the “Highlight tool.” –> select the “Start” option from the popup menu opened.
9. Then, find the “Highlighter library” option and click on it.
10. You’ll be provided with some text boxes. That helps you create a label and then set the color to highlight.
11. Click on the “+” button for selecting a new category.
12. Highlight the text and then select the respective color by following the same instructions mentioned above.
13. To create another document, click on the “By color” button that is present under Title and choose the “Extract Highlights” option from the bottom of the “Highlight Tool” menu.
14. Now, in a new window, you can see some options for selecting a destination where you can generate this information.
15. Choose a destination and click “Extract” to start extracting.
16. Then, click on “Link to document”. This will open a fresh window containing your highlighted notes, organized by color in a neat and organized document.
