Approach – 1: You can use the Shapes Option
The most common and efficient way is to use the Shapes option. By using this option, not only do you can just able to insert a vertical line but also you can able to customize the vertical line by changing the weight, style, color, etc.
Now, follow the below steps to use the Shapes option.
Step-1: Open your Google Docs, for the one you want to add the vertical line, and then click on the insert tab from the top which is present in between the View and Format tab.

Step-2: Click on the Drawing option, which is present next to the Table option. Now you can able to see two options, click on the + New button. You can also choose the From Drive option, in case you have any existing template for the vertical line.

Step-3: As the next step, click on the dropdown next to the line and then select a line or Arrow based on your need, and then you can drag it vertically to draw the line.
