You can use a simple trick when your document requires page numbers on every page. Insert page numbers for one page and set them to automatically update when pages are added or deleted from the particular Google Docs document.
1. Open the Google Docs web app in any browser of your choice
2. Open the document for which you need to add page numbers
3. Select Insert > Page numbers.
4. You can choose the page number to display at any part of your document, according to your preference. Google provides a few alignments and flexible settings to set up further configurations. Now, Choose the below-highlighted option to add page numbers to the header of every page or add page numbers to the footer of every page based on your requirements.
You can see below that the page numbers have been added to each page automatically.
How To Add Page Numbers In Google Docs on iPad
We will discuss the steps to add page numbers in Google Docs on an iPad or iPhone. To do so, follow the below steps on your iPhone or iPad.
- On your iPhone or iPad, Navigate to the Google Docs app and try opening a document.
- Tap on the Edit icon.
- Then, tap the insert (+) option and the Page Number. Check out the below screenshot for your reference.
4. Finally, choose where you want your page numbers, i.e., headers or footers. You can also set whether you want the first page skipped and the page numbers to start from the second page onwards.
Once you have added the page numbers, you can remove them in Google Docs if you don’t want them.
