How to number lines in Google Docs
Follow the below steps to add line numbers in Google Docs.
- Open your Google Docs document.
- Place the cursor from where you wish to start the line numbers –> then click on the Numbered list option. Alternatively, you can press the Ctrl + Shift + 7 for the Numbered list option.

3. Now, you can able to see the number 1 is added to your Google Docs document. Type the text or the line of text next to the number.

4. Hit enter key to go to the next line and you will see the number 2 is added, write the next line next to the number 2.

5. Similarly, you can hit the enter key and write the line of text next to the line number. Repeat this step for all the lines you wish to add the line numbers based on your requirement.
How to number paragraphs in Google Docs
Similarly, you can also number the paragraphs in Google Docs using the below steps.
- Open your Google Docs document.
- Select all the paragraphs that you wish to number.

3. Click on the Numbered list option.

4. Now each paragraph will get numbered.

But, the problem here is, you will lose the space in between the paragraphs. So what you need to do is, you need to add the space manually.
Place the cursor at the end of each paragraph and then press the Enter key and then press backspace key. Repeat the same step for all the paragraphs.
