- Locate the place in your Google Docs document where you want to put the degree symbol and place the cursor there.
- Click on the Insert menu –> select the Special characters option.

Approach-2: Using Keyboard Shortcut

If you are using Windows, follow the below steps.

- Now, press Alt + 248 or Alt + 0176 to insert the degree symbol in your Google Docs document.

3. On the Preferences window, click on the Substitutions tab, Add a specific symbol (in my case, it is (d)) to the Replace text box, and then paste the degree symbol into the With text box. To paste the degree symbol, use Ctrl + V or right-click on the With text box –> choose the Paste option.
Finally, click on the OK button to save your Preferences.

Now, Once I type (d) and then the space bar, it will immediately replace this symbol with a degree symbol.
