Step 1: Open Google Docs and sign in to your account

Step 2: Open a new document or place the insertion point in the Google Docs document where you want to insert the image.

Step 3:Click Insert and then select ‘Image’. You can see a list of options:

Upload from computer

If you want to upload an image from your computer, then select “Upload from computer”. Select the image you’d like to use and then click Open.

Search the Web

You can search for images in Google and insert those images in your Google Docs document. Even though Google tries to filter the results to only show free images, but it is important to go to the source of an image to check the copyright license before inserting them into your document. 

To search for an image, place the insertion point in the document where you want to insert the image and Click Insert > Image > Search the web. A search pane will appear on the right side of the screen. Search for the desired search term on the screen and then press Enter.

Select the desired image from the search results and click Insert. The selected image will appear in your Google Docs document. 

By URL

You can use this option is useful if you have the URL of the desired image.  Click Insert > Image > By URL to insert the image into your document. After reviewing the preview of the image, and click insert.

Google Photos

You can also insert images from the Google Photos application. You have options to choose from photos directly or albums.  Click Insert > Image > Photos to insert the Google photos image into your Google Docs document.

Google Drive

If you have images stored in your Google Drive account, clicking Google Drive will give you access to these images. Click Insert > Image > Drive. A pop-up will be opened on the right side of your screen.  You have options to choose and insert images from the recently uploaded images, images shared with you, and photos stored by you.

How to move images in Google Docs?

You can move images in Google Docs to a different part of the document. You can move an image to the back, back, or close to the text easily.

Step 1: Open Google Docs and sign in to your account.

Note: If you want to move the image to a different page, you can drag it near the top or bottom of the page, but that doesn’t always work well. You can also simultaneously scroll with your mouse while still clicking and holding the image. 

Step 4: If the image is not perfectly fit the way you want them to, you can adjust by choosing aligning options. Select the image to find a menu just below it and choose one of these options – Inline, Wrap text, Break text, Resizing, and Other options.

  • Inline: This option lets you move the image on the line you choose, almost as if it were text in the sentence. 
  • Wrap text: This option provides far more flexibility by literally wrapping text around the image. You can drag it anywhere you like and when you pick this option, you can also adjust the margin size around the picture.
  • Break text: This option in the menu prevents text from being on the left or right side. You can adjust the margin to choose how much blank space there should be between the image and text.
  • Resizing and Other Options

There are some other options you can choose to do with the image, such as resize and rotate it. If you’re dealing with several pictures and need to make them all fit right, then you can use this option after moving images in the desired place of the Google Docs document.

How to Rotate Images in Google Docs?

You can rotate and flip images in Google Docs by choosing the ‘Imaging’ options. This lets you have control over the image’s width, height, and angle rotation, right-click the photo and choose Image options.

How to move Images in Google Docs iPad?

To move images in Google Docs iPad/ iPhone/Android, follow the below steps.

Step 1: Open the Google Docs document on your iPad and choose the edit/pencil button to go into editing mode.

Step 2: Tap the image once to show the boxed corners. This box indicates that now you’re ready to move it.
